Lori Brizi
Although one of the 'Original' Hustle dancers and dance teachers, a passion ignited in her to start up Hustle dances in NYC at the turn of the new millennium, a time when Hustle dancing appeared to be dead and was only being danced in underground venues. This passion was inspired by a burning desire to pass this exciting dance down to younger generations. She did not want it to be lost as a 'period dance' of the 70s and 80s that would die with her generation. Soon afterwards, she became the originator of the 'Hustle Congress' and she ijust completed her 13th 'NY Hustle Congress' in NYC on July 24-29, 2024. Her weekly Hustle parties include 'Millennium Dance Jam' and the legendary 'Monday Night Hustle' parties held at '412' in midtown Manhattan. She has been Voted 'Person of the Year' for 7 years by the readers of DanceTalk, the country's largest newsletter for Hustle dancing. During the time of her primary career as a competitor and performer of Ballroom dancing, she has won numerous dance championships in International Latin, Theater Arts, and Cabaret, and is a 3 time winner of the iconic Zachary's Dance Contest. She was a featured performer of such prestigious dance companies as American Ballroom Theater and Swing Dance America and toured as a teacher and performer on several cruise ships around the world. She has been teaching the Hustle lessons for Lincoln Center's Hustle Nights and performing at the Rainbow Room, the Copacabana, Latin Quarter, and other NYC nightclubs. She has also made numerous TV and movie appearances and was featured for her work in the Hustle community in the documentary 'Crime Cutz' which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
